The Pittsburgh Tech Council is hosting the Pittsburgh leg of Tara Hunt's social media road trip, Whuffaoke Or Bust. (http://www.whuffaoke.com/ ) There will be a 27 ft Winnebago where we will encourage people to congregate hoping to discuss social media, whuffie, have a few beers, and sing karaoke. Pittsburgh's outstanding blogging community has put Pittsburgh as a stop on the tour. Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is accepting applications from District 2 residents interested in replacing Heather Arnet on the city school board.
Ms. Arnet resigned yesterday, a year and a half into her four-year term, citing responsibilities at work. Mr. Ravenstahl will appoint a replacement, who will serve until Dec. 5, 2011.
Residents interested in the position have until 5 p.m. July 10 to e-mail a resume and "letter of intent" to pghschoolboard@city.pittsburgh.pa.us
Mr. Ravenstahl did not say when he would make the appointment.
