Councilman Peduto is working towards getting a citizens' committee set up to oversee where the fed's stimulus money is spent in our fair city. This is a good idea.
I suggest we email all of council and remind them that "citizens" includes both female and male. This will, hopefully, prevent an all MALE committee from being formed, (see Rendell, Governor).
Yes indeedy, most council members are hip to the fact that TWO genders make up Pittsburgh's citizens, but they don't always take any kind of diversity into consideration when appointing people to commissions, committees, what have you.
