SB 1250 (anti marriage and benefits) on Judiciary Committee Calendar for this Tuesday, March 11

Everyone:

Today, Senate Bill 1250 was placed onto the Judiciary Committee Calendar for this coming Tuesday, March 11. This gives us one week to have as many people contact their Senators, especially those who serve on the Judiciary Committee, in opposition to this legislation.
This week there are several very important action steps organizations can take to help stop this bill in committee:

We need to flood Judiciary Committee Member offices with phone calls in opposition to SB 1250. I have included at the bottom of this e-mail the list of Senators who serve on the committee, as well as their district office phone numbers and counties they represent. Asking your membership to e-mail their Senator is good, but right now we really need as many people to call their Senator as possible.

The link for people to find their Senator’s contact information is here: http://eqfed.org/center4civilrights/leg-lookup/search.tcl?domain=center4civilrights&preview_p=1
The link for people to send an e-mail to their Senator is here: http://eqfed.org/campaign/marriage_protection_amendment_07
Additional information on the bill, and talking points, are available at http://equalitypa.org.

Additionally, if each organization, whether statewide or regional, would write a brief letter in opposition to the bill on your organization’s letterhead, they can be handed out to Judiciary Committee Members this week. If you need help with the language of this letter, please let me or Stacey know and we will happily draft something.

If you have any questions moving forward, please e-mail or call me or Stacey. I am more available this week on my mobile phone at (215) 407-5313.

Thank you all, again, for your continued work on this issue!

-Jake
